The first job on many farms, and has been so for a VERY long time, is either driving a muck or pitch fork OR rolling in crops. First job I did back in the 70's for my dad. Good on you BJ for savouring the moment, a moment to be proud of. One day you might be the Granddad.

You will realize that rolling a field after planting will result in less dirt in the combine and dust while harvesting. Worth the time for sure

The agricultural engineers appear to like making systems most complex and without sufficient redundancy. How do you overcome the GPS issues? Do you put a foam marker on the Massey planter if a solar magnetic storm takes down the GPS system (or the Russians etc are firing space lasers at the GPS satellites) and wire in a manual override to get the GPS controlled systems to work even if GPS is not working? Do you put two different GPS systems on the same tractor/ planter , if one system is having problems, could switch over to a back-up system?

I also watch a guy in Canada and they don’t do a lot of heavy tillage north of the border. They do use a lot of air seeders but they use heavy harrows. Do you think that would be something you would think about using? It’s like 50ft or more wide. I am sure you could cover some ground in a day and be cheaper to run than anything else you use to level up the ground and scratch the dirt.

Take the time to till the ground you are not hurting the ground when you till it,you think you are saving money when you no till at 15 mph but in reality you are just screwing yourself and getting bad results have a great day yall
